Marilyn Manson released his 11th studio album We Are Chaos on September 11, 2020. The goth icon's last album was Heaven Upside Down, which was released in 2017.

Manson is impressed at how the We Are Chaos is the reflection of what is happening in the United States right now. To him, it felt like he wrote the tracks today when he already finished writing them back in April. "When I listen to We Are Chaos now, it seems like just yesterday or as if the world repeated itself, as it always does, making the title track and the stories seem as if we wrote them today."

The rockstar wrote all tracks by himself and had no collaborations with other artists. However, country singer Shooter Jennings was involved in the project.

He mentioned that the songs have a story in them, with most falling into two groups. Just like the traditional album style, some tracks belong to side A or side B. However, he insisted that "it's up to the listener to put the last piece of the puzzle into the picture of songs."

Marilyn Manson uploaded the official music video for "We Are Chaos," the single from the album, on his YouTube channel back on July 29. It has over 4 million views, 150 thousand likes, and 19 thousand comments. There is a noticeable surge in the number of comments in the Russian language that even English-speaking fans pointed them out.

On top of that, the controversial rock musician added the official audio for the other tracks in the album. The channel now has over 2.8 million subscribers.

Most music critics gave it a favorable review, about 80 out of 100 in most scores. Some reviewers praised Manson for making songs that focused more on songwriting than spectacle. The album also seems to reflect a wounded and emotional side of Manson and how it is a fitting ballad for Millenials.
