To celebrate the release of their 13th  studio album, Hypnotic Eye, Tom Petty & The Heartbreakers stopped by ABC's Jimmy Kimmel Live! to perform not one, not two, but three songs off the new record: "American Dream Plan B,"Forgotten Man" and "U Get Me High."

As epic as it was for the host and audience to view Petty and his band play some tracks off the record, it almost seems incomparable to the fact that the show brought the entire audience over to the musician's rehearsal space – Sony Studios located in Culver City, CA - in order to watch the mini-concert. Which, not that we have to say, was very cool.

Before kicking off the set, Jimmy Kimmel had the opportunity to chat with the legendary "Free Fallin'" singer for a couple of minutes. Noting the discomfort of having everyone in the same room, Kimmel equated it to being under "house arrest." To which Petty joked, "We never dreamed this would happen but here we are."

Kimmel added, "It's like the worst dream come true ever, right?"

The band kicks off their tour this coming Sunday night in San Diego. They then move on to Boise, Idaho, for more shows. From there, they'll set off to do "40-odd dates in North America," as Petty puts it. Though he does admit, "Why would you go anywhere after Boise?" Note: he may or may not have been kidding. (He was).

The singer's sarcastic side continued when he insisted that it doesn't necessarily matter where the band plays because likes all of the cities "equally."
