Remy Ma was free. Then she wasn't.

Now, MissInfo.tv reports that that rapper was released from Bedford Hills Correctional Facility at 3 p.m. on Friday, when her husband -- rapper Papoose -- picked her up and escorted her off the grounds.

A former Terror Squad member, Remy Ma -- born Reminisce Smith -- was sentenced to eight years in 2007 after shooting an acquaintance twice in the stomach, but was expected to be released on July 31 for good behavior.

Not everything was going smoothly, however.

A prison official told REVOLT that Smith had a disciplinary issue on July 21, which resulted in her prison release date getting delayed for a short period of time.

The July 21 date of the incident is the same day Smith spoke to Power 105 reporter Angie Martinez on the phone and is believed to be the reason for Smith's disciplinary issues, though that is not confirmed. The prison officials could only say that a "third party call" was an issue on that date.

Whatever the hold-up, Smith appears to now be a free woman.

Formerly under the stage name Remy Martin, Remy Ma is perhaps best known for her part in Terror Squad's 2004 single "Lean Back," which topped the Billboard charts for three weeks and won "Best Female Rap Collaboration" at the The Source Hip-Hop Music Awards.

She released her most recent solo album, BlasRemy, in 2008.
