Nickelodeon is partnering up with Paramount Television to produce and pick up a School of Rock-inspired television series, according to the Hollywood Reporter.

Much like the 2003 film of the same name, the network promises the School of Rock series will be a 13-episode live-action program revolving around the happenings and misfortunes of Dewey Finn (Jack Black's character in the film) as he finds himself posing as a substitute teacher at a respected prep school.

The series has already earned a straight-to-series pickup.

With production kicking off in the spring of 2015, it's been reported that the film's director (Richard Linklater) and producer (Scott Rudin) are going to be acting as the series' executive producers along the way. Casting has yet to be announced.

This will be the first venture into kids programming for Paramount TV, which is also attempting to do small-screen projects adapted from features such as Ghost, Terminator and The Truman Show.

As for the kids' network, School of Rock is the second live-action series they've picked up in one week ... behind 100 Things To Do.

Russell Hicks, president of content and development at Nick, spoke of the pick-up, saying, "School of Rock is one of those great movies that always felt quintessentially Nickelodeon in its tone and humor, and we jumped at the opportunity to partner with Paramount Television and bring it to life as a TV series."

Being that the film has grossed more than $130 million, it's safe to say that Hollywood is banking on the series pulling in some serious money.
