The next generation of musicians are ready to take over the industry as Red Hot Chili Pepper drummer Chad Smith's daughter, Ava Maybee, auditioned for "American Idol," and the judges adored her way of singing.

According to Loud Wire, the young songstress auditioned with her rendition of "Lately," originally sung by the legend Stevie Wonder.

Maybee faced the competition's panel and sang with her vocals accompanied by an acoustic guitar.

The singer was successful on her first try as she earned praise from the judges, Lionel Richie, Luke Bryan, and Katy Perry.

The "Hello" hitmaker even compared Maybee to another legend, Cher, saying her voice had "remnants" of the "Believe" songstress.

On the other hand, Perry complimented the climax of her audition, which was in the chorus, saying it "started to really open up" when the chorus hit.

"It's a cool alto sound, but I think if you went for it, you'd be challenged a lot," she added.

Bryan then gave the singer a hint that she's going through the next round, saying he feels like she's an artist and is interested in hearing and seeing more of what she's doing.

By the time the judges deliberate whether she's going to get three yeses or not, Richie poked fun at her name, saying she's not going to be a "Maybee," but instead, she's going to be a "for sure."

In the end, Maybee got the approval of all the panel members, leading her to get a ticket to Hollywood.

Ava Maybee Is Not the First Singer Related to an Icon Who Auditioned for American Idol

Ava Maybee may have gotten three yeses from the judges, but she's not the first person related to a music legend who auditioned on the show.

In early reports, Aretha Franklin's granddaughter, Grace, auditioned last month.

The young singer performed her rendition of "Killing Me Softly" by Fugees and her grandmother's "Ain't No Way."

Speaking about her relationship with the late legend, the 15-year-old high school student said she developed a close connection with Aretha Franklin when she was still alive.

The auditionee added that she got to see her "all the time," and they travel more often.

During her audition, Grace broke people's expectations as many viewers assumed that she would sing the same way as her grandmother, but she clarified that she has her way of singing.

Although the judges loved her performance, not all members of the panel gave her a yes, but Katy Perry did her best to defend her.

In the end, Grace never got a ticket to Hollywood, but Lionel Richie gave her a hug before telling her she should audition again in future seasons.
