Dead & Company has just announced their upcoming summer tour, but anonymous sources claim it will be the band's last; could this be true?

According to a report published by Rolling Stone, the group will stop touring after 2022 despite just announcing their upcoming shows for the latter part of this year.

The outlet noted that the insiders had confirmed the rumor already circulating within the band's fanbase.

Formed in 2015, band members include John Mayer, Bob Weir, Mickey Hart, Bill Kreutzmann, Jeff Chimenti, and Oteil Burbridge.

More recently, Dead & Company has finally addressed the issue about their alleged plans to quit touring.

In a statement, the group said, "Dead & Company has made no official decision as to this being their final tour." (via Variety)

Bob Weir seemingly slammed the claim by quote-retweeting the outlet's post, writing, "News to me..."

At the time of this writing, the other band members have not publicly commented on the matter.

The band will embark on a summer tour which will last for only a month. The group of iconic musicians will perform at Dodger Stadium on June 11 first, before wrapping up with a two-night concert at Citi Field in New York on July 15 and 16.

Other venues include Bay Area's Shoreline Amphitheatre, Chicago's Wrigley Field, UC Boulder's Folsom Field, Hollywood Casino Amphitheatre in Maryland, River Music Center in Ohio, and many more.

Tickets and passes for the shows are available on their official website.

Over the past year, band members have experienced health woes, including Kreutzmann, who never got the chance to perform on the group's second show at the Hollywood Bowl.

He later clarified that his condition is non-COVID related but rather an issue with his heart.

The musician also bowed out of Mexico's Playing in the Sand Festival.

The band hinted that they wouldn't be disbanding soon or stop touring, as John Mayer mentioned in a previous interview that he expected Dead & Company to keep going indefinitely, even with changes in personnel.

Speaking to Sammy Hagar for "Rock & Roll Road Trip," the singer said, "to hear Bob Weir talk about it, he wants this to continue after [the surviving Grateful Dead members] are done touring."
