Ace Frehley's return to Kiss became Gene Simmons' greatest wish for him during his 71st birthday.

Simmons has been courting Frehley to join Kiss again after the lead guitarist left the band for good following their public spat in 2019. So during the musician's 71st birthday, Simmons tried his luck again and publicly expressed his desire to reunite with his ex-bandmate.

On Twitter, the "See You Tonite" singer shared a short birthday message for Frehley, reminding him that the invitations are still valid.

"Happy Birthday Ace @ace_frehley. And many more...The invitations still stand. Jump up on stage with us for encores. The fans would love it," he wrote.

Fans immediately approved the idea and said that Peter Criss could join them for a full and complete tour. However, some fans reminded everyone that both Frehley and Criss are never coming back.

Simmons' recent invitation came after his multiple attempts to get Frehley and Criss to join them again after Kiss' End of the Road tour began in 2019. However, he said that the two former members would only be part of their shows in a limited capacity than playing the entire setlist.

In an interview with Guitar World in 2019, Simmons said that Frehley and Criss only got three chances - and they were already in and out of the band three times due to "drugs, alcohol, bad behavior."

Ace Frehley Reveals Why He Will Never Return to Kiss

Following Simmons' interview, Frehley penned a lengthy Facebook post (as reported by Billboard) and revealed shocking details about his former bandmate.

According to the lead guitarist, Simmons received multiple lawsuits from different women. He alleged that his former bandmate even groped his wife at the Capitol Records building.

Frehley also took his time to explain why he quit Kiss in the first place. He revealed that Simmons and Stanley had something to do with his first two departures because of their "untrustworthy" nature. He added that Simmons made slanderous comments about his substance abuse issues, causing him to lose millions of dollars.

He reportedly found it absurd how Simmons could not invite him to a full show when he has already been sober for 12 years.

For what it's worth, Frehley first left the band in 1992. He rejoined Kiss in 1996 for their reunion tour and continued playing with the members until 2002.

In 2017, he returned again by performing with Simmons at a fundraising show for victims of Hurricane Harvey. However, Frehley's stay with Kiss did not last long as he left for good following a public feud in 2019.
