Zac Efron and the other cast members of "High School Musical" literally graduated from the franchise already. But the actor himself opened up about trying to become a Wildcat again.

Years after "High School Musical" fans experienced music and acting in one franchise, its lead star spoke in an interview ahead of the release of his new film, "Firestarter."

Efron shared his thoughts to E! News on Tuesday, revealing whether he would return to film inside the East High or not.

"Of course, of course. I mean, to have an opportunity in any form to go back and work with that team would be so amazing. My heart is still there. That would be incredible. I hope it happens," he said, approving the "High School Musical" reboot.

In the franchise, Efron marked his breakthrough when he started portraying Troy Bolton's role. He worked with Vanessa Hudgens, Ashley Tisdale, and Corbin Bleu in the hit Disney Channel films.

All of the original cast members have not reprised their roles yet since the release of the third and final movie, "High School Musical 3: Senior Year." But Disney+ brought back the memories through a spinoff TV series starring Olivia Rodrigo.

The actor's recent comment is far from what he once told Men's Journal. Per Efron, he resented his involvement in the franchise as the movies were not what he wanted to do.

But this time, he officially turned the tables by himself.

Aside from bringing back his high school vibes, Efron also revealed that he wants to become part of the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

"I love the Marvel universe. I've been a fan of Marvel since I started walking. If the right character comes along, and they want me to jump in, I would jump at the opportunity," he said.

Cinema Blend then listed the potential characters he could play - from Silver Surfer to a massive role in the upcoming "Fantastic Four" reboot. The news outlet noted that he could play Torch in the new installment, or Efron could also become the first Nova - a cosmic character in the MCU fans have been wanting to see a live-action version of.
