Even though music legends have been performing for decades, insecurities could still eat them up inside. Metallica's James Hetfield is no exception as he opened up about his struggles during their concert overseas.

According to Ultimate Classic Rock, the lead vocalist took the stage alongside his bandmates Lars Ulrich, Kirk Hammett, and Robert Trujillo.

The band performed in front of a 60,000 crowd at the Estádio do Mineirāo, Brazil.

Upon going up on stage, Hetfield said he wasn't feeling very good before performing as he felt "a little bit insecure."

"I'm an old guy, can't play anymore, all this b****** that I tell myself in my head," he addressed the crowd.

To make him feel better, he consulted with his groupmates, and they helped and gave him a hug.

"They gave me a hug and said, 'Hey, if you're struggling on stage, we've got your back.' And I tell you, it means the world to me," he added.

His short statement led his bandmates to do another group hug, leading fans to scream as loud as they could.

Following this, Metallica proceeded to perform their hit song "Sad But True."

James Hetfield Has Been Candid About His Struggles for Years

This is not the first time the musician has publicly opened up about his personal problems, as he previously revealed that he's started taking care of himself.

In 2019, the frontman returned to a rehabilitation facility because of his alcohol addiction.

In a previous interview with So What!, Hetfield said the more people get older, the more they learn, and he's learning about how much he's a regular human being.

He then described his bandmates as "brothers on this journey in life," as the band exists because of them getting together.

"We're gonna continue to stay connected and write music," he added.
