Andy Fletcher, the keyboardist and founding member of Depeche Mode, shocked fans with his recent "shocking" death.

Fletcher, who was 60 at the time of his death, is said to have died due to natural causes. However, the official statement from his bandmates did not disclose further details about his health or status.

For what it's worth, Depeche Mode only shared a press release addressing that they lost the keyboardist - who became the bandmates' family and friend. Instead of sharing more information, they asked to respect the bereaved family's privacy instead.

"Andy 'Fletch' Fletcher. Fletch had a true heart of gold and was always there when you needed support, a lively conversation, a good laugh, or a cold pint. Our hearts are with his family, and we ask that you keep them in your thoughts and respect their privacy in this difficult time," the band said.

However, he faced several issues in the past that affected his life - although it remains unknown whether these were connected to his death.

Andy Fletcher's Health Status

UK's The Independent revealed in its review of Depeche Mode's album "Ultra" that the early years of the 1990s was difficult for the band.

In 1994, Depeche Mode became a three-membered group - Fletcher, David Gahan, and Martin Gore. Despite their epic performances, the trio reportedly ignored each other when they were not working together.

It reached the point that they began to travel separately.

At that time, Fletcher had been open about his depression which was worsened by the band's issues. He told Hot Press that he suffered two stress-related seizures, saying that those were related to the overwhelming number of shows while touring.

Halfway through that year, he said that the experience was actually a full-on nervous breakdown.

"I had a massive nervous breakdown on that tour. The [tour]was 187 gigs and, unfortunately, I had to pull out of the last leg. I remember [the band] Primal Scream supported us and they were shocked at [Dave Gahan's] behavior [related to his substance abuse]," he continued.

After his departure, he purportedly sought help at a UK hospital.

Years later, he sat for an interview with the same news outlet, saying that his hospitalization was a "watershed" for himself and the band.

Aside from his nervous breakdown, he also fractured his wrist while on a vacation last month.
