It's recently been reported by The Sun that Sam Smith is in talks with producers at MGM to record the theme for the next James Bond film, which is scheduled for a November 6, 2015 release in the United States.

The In the Lonely Hour singer is the lead pick for the Daniel Craig-starring film's theme song, following reports that Adele rejected the initial offer to record the title track. Of course, she was a big part of the 2012 Bond film Skyfall, having recorded the track of the same name.

A source at MGM stated, "Sam is our top choice. He has the profile, cool image and an astonishing voice to record a Bond theme," in the Sun report.

The new Bond flick, which stands as the fourth for Craig, marks the return of Skyfall's director Sam Mendes (American Beauty, Revolutionary Road) and screenwriters Neal Purvis, Robert Wade and John Logan. Other confirmed castmembers are Ralph Fiennes, who will play MBen Whishaw playing QNaomie Harris playing Miss Moneypenny and Rory Kinnear as Bill Tanner, the MI6 chief of staff.

As of this writing, the rumored title is Bond 24.

NME reports that the last British male artist to record a theme for a James Bond film was Tom Jones with "Thunderball."

If Smith's recording is anything like his debut 2014 album, it looks like we're in for one hell of a great song. And maybe we'll even see the movie. Maybe.
