After getting engaged earlier this year, Avril Lavigne achieved another milestone in her music career.

The Pop-punk queen is celebrating the twentieth anniversary of her debut album, "Let Go" - which kickstarted her illustrious music career.

Her arrival in the music industry ushered in a new era of music, especially for women in pop-punk. She is most notable for her bold and honest lyricism and unconventional punk aesthetic, which coincided with the early 2000s fashion.

"Let Go" received mainly positive reviews from critics at the time of its release. Per Rolling Stone, the album "comes fully loaded with another dozen infectious hymns of Total Request angst."

The album, which remains iconic until today, has delivered many classic hits - including "Complicated" and "Sk8r Boi." It reached No. 1 both on the Canadian Albums Chart and the UK Albums chart, while it topped No. 2 on the US Billboard 200.

With its worldwide reception, the album sold over seven million copies in the United States alone, as certified by the Recording Industry Association of America. In Canada and the United Kingdom, the album was certified Diamond and 6x Platinum, respectively.

Avril Lavigne 'Let Go' 2022 New Expanded Edition

To celebrate the outstanding feat, Avril Lavigne, thru Arista Records and Legacy Recordings, released an expanded edition of the album and six bonus tracks.

With the new expanded album, Lavigne then recorded a new version of her original composition, "Breakaway," which was given to the inaugural American Idol champion Kelly Clarkson.

"Breakaway" peaked at No. 6 on the Billboard Hot 100 charts at the time of its release in 2004. It was also included in the "The Princess Diaries 2" soundtrack.

Lavigne reclaimed the song by restoring lyrical references to her childhood growing up in Canada in the new version. (via Variety)

The expanded edition of "Let Go" included five new songs that were recorded when the album was still in its early years of production.

"Why" is the B-side of Avril's "Complicated," while "Get Over It" is the B-side of "Ske8r Boi." Aside from the two, Lavigne also included "Falling Down" from the "Sweet Home Alabama" soundtrack, "I Don't Give" from the "American Wedding" soundtrack, and "Make Up."

Four of his classic hits' music videos were also upgraded to a higher resolution on YouTube. She would also be releasing a two-LP 12-inch vinyl pressing of the expanded edition on January 2023.
