Camila Cabello deemed it "vital" to include a phrase in her song "Psychofreak" that references her departure from Fifth Harmony, even if it somehow placed her former bandmates in a bad light. She refuses to replace the lyrics, seeing how well it narrated her messy breakup from the group.

Things between Cabello and the other girls are good though, she said

The pop sensation quit the girl group in 2016, and she admits the acrimonious split for the first time in her latest album's track "Familia."

She sung, "I been on this ride since I was 15, I don't blame the girls for how it went down, down."

Camila is convinced that she wanted to keep a tribute to that period of her life in 'Psychofreak' by including those lines.

She explained to Cosmopolitan magazine, "I felt like it was important to keep that (lyric) on there because it was such a big part of my journey as a person. It just explains so much of how I got to where I am now, mentally, emotionally, psychologically, and I'm sure for everyone else in the group, too. I felt like it was important because I don't really ever talk about that in any of my songs."

When asked if she had discussed the lyric with any of her former bandmates, Camila stated she had a productive conversation with Normani about the song during the Met Gala in May.

"We were just laughing, having fun and hanging out. She said something really sweet about (the song) and in general is really cool and supportive. I try to be super supportive as well. I feel like we're in a great place. I feel like that about some of the other girls, too, and I feel really good about that," she shared.

Her debut album "Camila" was published in 2018, followed by "Romance" in February 2019 and
"Familia' in April 2022.

Camila rose to prominence as a member of Fifth Harmony until her departure in 2016.

The conflict between Camila Cabello and her former girl group, Fifth Harmony, began even before she left in December 2016 to pursue a solo career.

Camila, Normani, Lauren Jauregui, Ally Brooke, and Dinah Jane met during season 2 of The X Factor in the United States in 2012. The judges Simon Cowell, L.A. Reid, Britney Spears, and Demi Lovato opted to group them together after they auditioned as solos. Their harmonies were excellent, but they battled to identify their identity from the beginning, going through many name changes before landing on Fifth Harmony, which was suggested by home viewers.

In December 2012, the girls placed third on the Fox competition and secured contracts with Cowell's Syco Music and Reid's Epic Records, respectively. In October 2013, they released their debut EP, "Better Together," followed by two albums, "Reflection."

But towards the end of 2016, cracks began to appear inside the girl group.

On multiple times, Normani, Lauren, Ally, and Dinah were seen hanging out together, but Camila was nowhere to be found.

Then, in December of same year, Fifth Harmony issued a statement claiming they were "advised by [Camila's] representatives" that she had resigned, which she later stated was "just false." A highly publicized exchange ensued, revealing that the girls had been in choppy waters for a while.

Fifth Harmony released one more album, 2017's self-titled, before announcing in March 2018 that they would be taking an indefinite pause to pursue separate endeavors.
