Shakira, 45, "trusts her innocence and decides to put the matter in the hands of the authorities," according to a statement from the public relations firm Llorente y Cuenca.

According to Shakira's public relations office, she has paid the alleged tax arrears to the Spanish Tax Agency and has no outstanding tax debts. The case relies on her 2012-2014 residence.
