Demi Lovato is going back to her first love which is pop punk music as she held a funeral for her pop music career early this year.

More recently, the Disney alum spoke to PopCrush Nights where she explained why she returned to her pop-rock and pop-punk roots after years of releasing pure pop songs.

The "Camp Rock" actress recalled that it all started when she saw Dead Sara perform live. Upon watching her friends sing their songs, she realized that it's the kind of music she misses doing and she also wanted to perform on stage the way they do.

Lovato started out in the industry as a pop-punk artist with her 2008 album "Don't Forget" via Hollywood Records, a label under the Disney Music Group.

Through the years, the "Cool For The Summer" songstress felt performing her previous songs was "stale" to her because she was not singing the music she likes so she decided to switch things up. (via Z 107.3)

Demi Lovato Forced to be a 'Hyper-Feminine Pop Star' During Her Early Years

The latest interview comes a day after Lovato spoke to Zane Lowe for Apple Music 1 to promote her album "Holy Fvck" and discuss her previous experiences in the music industry.

She noted that her previous traumas inspired her to translate it into music.

During her early years in the industry, the "Sonny With A Chance" star said she didn't know who she was because her team forced her in a "direction to be this hyper-feminine pop star."

Even though she amassed massive success, popularity, and celebrity status during her teenage years, the "Sorry Not Sorry" hitmaker said she was "unhappy" with those things.

"I would get on stage, and I'd be in these leotards and these stiletto shoes that I was miserable in. And I danced. I did choreography and stuff like that, and I just wasn't happy," she explained.

Unfortunately, the experience made her go back to treatment but didn't make her feel better because there was still unresolved trauma that she never got the chance to heal from.

Looking back at her younger self, Lovato said she would advice her to not judge herself so hard because she's beautiful and didn't need to lose weight.

However, it was something that she couldn't comprehend because she was still young.
