Demi Lovato may have become popular due to her appearances on several shows and films produced by Disney, but she recently revealed that her stardom took a toll on her mental and physical health.

In a recent interview with "Call Her Daddy," the "Substance" hitmaker recalled the time when she was still a child actress, and it appears that she might have been exploited at a young age.

The 30-year-old pop-punk singer said Disney gave her an intense schedule which made her become emotional and call her mother while crying because she was exhausted.

There were also times that production would "barricade" her room for her not to eat at all.

Even though her career kickstarted at Disney, fans didn't know the gruesome moments that child actors experienced behind closed doors.

Lovato said her intense schedule includes filming a season of a series, touring different cities, and filming a movie, and she did all of that in three years non-stop.

"If I had a hiatus from my show, then I would have the tour bus pull up to the studio and take me on tour for one week, or I would fly to London to do promo," she said. (via Daily Mail UK)

The singer added that there was a moment when she woke up and started crying to her mom because she was so exhausted.

Another pressure was added to her as she mostly paid for her family's bills and needs because her father left his job to become her manager, meaning his income was coming from her.

Demi Lovato's Team Was Very Strict During Her Teenage Years

Another issue Lovato faced during her child stardom was being under a "controlling manager" who would lock her in her hotel room to prevent her from ordering food and eating.

Phones or other mobile devices were also not allowed to use, making her sneak out of her room to make a call as they didn't want her to order room service. Even snacks in the minibar were taken from her room.

Her team was very strict to the point that a security guard was walking outside her room.

There was a point when she wanted to get treatment because she started throwing up blood, but they didn't listen to her as they believe that she was "not sick enough."

Demi Lovato starred in numerous Disney films and TV shows like "Sonny With a Chance" and "Camp Rock."

Recently, the singer dropped her latest album titled "HOLY FVCK."
