After five years of marriage, married musicians Morgan Evans and Kelsea Ballerini are going their separate ways, they both announced through Instagram.

"Friends, I've always tried my best to share my life with you in a real and vulnerable way, while also protecting layers of my personal life as they unfold," the "I Quit Drinking" songstress posted on her Instagram stories the news of the split.

"This is now public record so I wanted you to hear from me directly that I am going through a divorce."

Ballerini added that it was a "deeply difficult decision," but was a decision that ended their "journey of love, growth, and effort."

On Aug. 26, the "Half Of My Hometown" singer filed for divorce, according to E! News, citing "irreconcilable differences."

Meanwhile, Evans also announced the divorce via Instagram. He wrote: "I am very sad to confirm that after almost 5 years of marriage, Kelsea and I are parting ways. [...] I wish it were otherwise, but sadly it is not."

Whirlwind Romance

The pair first met in March 2016 at the CMC Awards in Australia, Evan's home country. They had co-hosted the event and got into a whirlwind romance soon after.

In December the following year, they tied the knot at Cabo San Lucas in Mexico.

The 28-year-old songstress described her husband as "a supportive, wonderful human" to Entertainment Tonight in 2019 during their appearance at the CMT Awards.

Trouble In Paradise

Ballerini revealed to People Magazine the previous year that she and Evans go to couples therapy.

Her experience with her parents' divorce initially made her swear off marriage, but conversations and discussions with her parents made her realize the beauty behind the union.

"As I got older, I was able to have conversations with them both about their marriage, [and] pre-divorce and realized that there was beauty there, there was love there at some point. That helped me realize that I could find that," she told People Magazine.

Things took a downturn somehow, because a source told People Magazine that the two have been working on their marriage for quite some time now, "Prior to this they had separated privately once before and have been in therapy for several years."

"They gave it their best go but unfortunately arrived at the decision to formally separate," the source said.

Despite their best efforts, the two have just decided to call it quits, and currently, they both have their hands full with their individual music careers.
