Maneskin was unexpectedly got censored during the band's first-ever MTV Video Music Awards.

After becoming an international hit musician, the Italian band made it to this year's MTV VMAs - marking its first since its debut. Unfortunately, it became a memorable one for the wrong reason as its fans were left mad as the ceremony suddenly focused on aerial views instead of close-up shots instead.

During Maneskin's "Supermodel" performance, the cameras initially focused on the band members closely in the first 40 seconds of the song.

But after bassist Victoria De Angelis' black top fell off her shoulder and exposed her breast. Though she still had a silver nipple tape, MTV immediately censored the whole performance after the incident for fans who were watching at their homes.

Despite that, the 22-year-old continued playing the instrument but no longer appeared in close-up shots.

The event garnered several nicknames, like post-Janet Jackson and Justin Timberlake's infamous Super Bowl halftime show.

Following MTV's decision, fans expressed mixed reactions - but most of them condemned the ceremony - over the censorship.

Not The 1st Controversy Involving Maneskin

It was not the first time Maneskin got involved in an infamous issue.

After they won Eurovision in 2021, the band stirred criticism when a video of the members drinking went viral. While it looked normal at first, David eventually bent his head, causing people to speculate that he was snorting cocaine.

The European Broadcasting Union clarified at that time that there was no drug use in the Green Room, unlike what the buzz claimed.

In response to the reports, David voluntarily underwent a drug test and received a negative result. He also denied the accusations and repeatedly told the reporters that he did not use drugs.

"We consider the matter closed. We are alarmed that inaccurate speculation leading to fake news has overshadowed the spirit and the outcome of the event and unfairly affected the band. We wish to congratulate Måneskin once again and wish them huge success," the EBU said.

After these issues, Maneskin is set to make a return to the US for its Loud Kids World Tour.
