It has been a hot minute since Kelly Clarkson has released any new music lately, and understandably so because she has been going through a lot with her divorce and her talk show.

Hold tight, because she has just announced that she has been back in the studio writing and recording songs for some time now, she revealed to Variety.

According to their report, the forthcoming album has been two years in the making and was inspired by her divorce from ex-husband Brandon Blackstock just over a year ago.

She revealed that she wrote about 25 songs in a week, noting that most of them will be included in the album.

"Then I told my label, 'I can't talk about this until I've gone through it,' and it's just taken some time to do that," She explained.

Juggling

The 40-year-old singer shared that between her divorce, being a single mother, and her career, she had not been writing much music.

"But then the whole divorce thing happened, and I needed to write it. And then I didn't know if I was going to release it, because you can be very angry in that state of mind," she said.

Clarkson filed for divorce in June of 2020 after seven years of being together, citing irreconcilable differences. The "Stronger" singer shared that she hopes the album will help people cope with their own struggles, noting that some have told her before that her music inspired them as well.

"'m through it now, but there is somebody else who is in it, and that's a hard place to be, especially if you feel alone. It's a hard thing to describe, it's a "[...] It's a hard thing to go through publicly, [and] it's hard with kids. This record, I think I wrote this for a reason," she said. "Not just for me, but maybe someone else can benefit from it."

Coping

For now, Clarkson is keeping herself busy with her career and children, of whom she has primary custody.

According to Cinema Blend, the "Since U Been Gone" singer shared that she took comfort in music and friends, "I think it's therapeutic, but like your female friendships. I feel like that has really helped me."

Clarkson shared that her upcoming album is an "important album," adding that she has been working on it in therapy. "I have a hard time vocalizing what I'm feeling sometimes, so music is helpful for me. It's just been really healing."

For now, fans will have to wait for the album that is set to be released in 2023. Clarkson also promised a tour, saying that she will have to work around her busy schedule to make it happen.

She added that performing the songs live will be "therapeutic" for her, "I know there are other guys and girls out there that have been through this kind of breakup who are going to need to scream at the top of their lungs, you can come and join me."
