Up-and-coming hip-hop artist Maurico is proud to be from Nashville and he makes it known on "City Come Alive." The song's video recently premiered on Billboard.

On the track, Maurico raps about all the things uniquely Nashville while boasting about turning up in the city. "City Come Alive" is to be featured on his debut EP, I Am Maurico, which drops this week. Check out the video after the jump.

"I am from Nashville, which is where I was born and raised," he told the magazine. "This is always home. You get off the plane at Nashville International, and the air and the atmosphere changes."

Although the city is widely known for its country roots, Maurico is ready to expose the world to Nashville's diverse music scene.

"A lot of people look at Nashville as just that one area, or sound, because that's what a lot of the ones that come out of here are in," he said. "But this is Music City. You've got rock artists, hip-hop artists, multiple genres of artists that are very good. I think it's time that somebody sees the other side of that and brings that full side to that -- and brings that full meaning to Music City."

Big things are going on in Tennessee lately, as far as musical history being revealed and broadened.

While Maurico wants to open up the world to new music coming out of Nashville, Snoop Dogg and actor Terrance Howard are shedding light on the inter-generational and interracial musical influence of Memphis in their forthcoming film Take Me To The River.

The film premiered earlier this year at SXSW, where it won the 24 Beats Per Second Audience Award, and has also screened at the 2014 Bonaroo Music and Arts Festival to critical acclaim.

Take Me To The River is slated to be released September 12.
