Dove Cameron has been making strides in her music career this 2022. After winning Best New Artist at the MTV Video Music Awards, the Disney alum is gearing toward a bigger path as she signed into a new label recently.

According to Billboard, Cameron has signed with Sony Music Publishing.

"I'm so excited to be joining the Sony Music Publishing family where they continue to grow and support me as an artist and a songwriter. With this partnership, I look forward to bringing my fans music that can become the soundtrack to their live," Dove told the publication on her new venture.

The 26-year-old singer has already flourished as a singer way before she launched her adult music career. To date, Dove Cameron has already been a huge part of four soundtrack albums.

Her first one was in "Liv and Maddie" where it peaked at No. 180 on the Billboard 200 charts. "Descendants 2" and "Descendants 3" have soared to No. 6 and No. 7 respectively, while her breakout soundtrack album on "Descendants" has debuted atop the charts at 42,000 album equivalent units. She has performed on almost half of the songs in the album.

Meanwhile, Sony Music Publishing's Vice President of Creatives Thomas Krottinger testified to Dove's hard work on the take-off of her budding music career.

"Dove is a brilliant songwriter - her creative authenticity has not only led to chart success, but it has enabled her to become an important voice representing the LGBTQ+ community. We're thrilled to welcome Dove to SMP, and we look forward to supporting her in this next chapter," he told Billboard.

Although her debut album is still yet to be released, her breakout single, "Boyfriend" was released via Disruptor Records. The track launched to No. 16 on the Billboard Hot 100 charts on the week of its release.

Meanwhile, her music career is one to watch as her big win for Best New Artist at the 2022 MTV Video Music Awards makes her a big threat to other artists vying to win their first Gramophone at the 2023 GRAMMY Awards.

According to Gold Derby, Dove Cameron is a strong contender for the Best New Artist Category as she could make a repeat of Olivia Rodrigo's win this year, who is also a Disney alumna. Her most formidable opponent would be Latto, who won the 2022 BET Award for Best New Artist.
