After what seemed like ages, American rock band Blink-182 appears to be gearing up for a reunion, and their social media activity seems to point toward that direction.

According to reports, Blink-182 wiped their Instagram account clean, causing fans to speculate that they are preparing for a comeback in the near future.

This, coupled with some cryptic social media activity, like liking tweets dated over ten years ago and their website that reads "under construction," hard at work," and "check back soon" have fueled the reunion rumors even more.

Fan Speculations

Save for their Instagram bio that reads "crappy punk rock since 1992," their Instagram account is void of any sign of life, but fans are hopeful that it might come alive with announcements of a comeback soon.

While some fans are ecstatic with the notion of the band getting back together, others do not share their enthusiasm. Some Twitter users pointed out that the Instagram bio has been on the account for quite some time now. However, several billboards featuring the new logo of the band have also been spotted all over the place, and fans have been sharing pictures of what seemed to be like their easter egg hunt.

What's Really Going On?

Earlier this year, Matt Skiba, the band's guitarist, revealed that he did not know if he was still part of Blink-182. He joined the band after their previous guitarist Tom DeLonge left "to change the world for [his] kids" in 2014.

However, news of DeLonge's return to the band circulated following a now-deleted tweet by Troy Hanson, Vice President at Cumulus Media for rock formats, which read "Tom DeLonge has rejoined Blink-182 and they're coming to the United Center. Live Nation, that's my gift to you guys for doing all this at the end of October with Panic! At The Disco. [sic]"

In addition to DeLonge's return, Hanson also revealed that a world tour might just be around the corner.

According to reports from 2020, Mark Hoppus, the band's bassist and vocalist, said that he was open to DeLonge returning to the band, "We haven't really talked about that, but I'm open to anything in the future."

Blink-182 was established in 1992 and is considered one of the most iconic rock bands of the 90s. They won several awards including Best Group Video for "All The Small Things" in 2000, Best New Act, and Best Rock Act at the MTV Europe Music Awards in 2000 and 2001 respectively. In 2004, they won Outstanding Hard Rock Album for "Blink-182" at the California Music Awards.

They announced their "indefinite hiatus" in February 2005, and broke up shortly after due to differences.

In 2009, the band got back together and announced their reunion at the Grammy Awards. Shortly after their announcement, they embarked on a reunion tour across North America.

Since then they have released albums here and there. Their most recent release is their eighth studio album, "Nine," in 2019. As of this writing, there is no definite word on whether Blink-182 is going to have a reunion tour or release music.
