Katy Perry has been one of the most iconic pop stars in the music industry and she couldn't achieve her massive success today if she didn't discover an album sung by her favorite singer.

Speaking to the "Smartless" podcast, the "Firework" hitmaker opened up about how her music transformed as she first entered the music scene releasing gospel songs as she was raised in a strict Christian environment.

"Jagged Little Pill by Alanis Morissette changed my life...I'm 37, so I dunno? I was late teens," crediting the singer's 1995 album. (via Daily Mail UK)

In addition, she only listened to gospel songs growing up until she entered her early teens when she discovered the greatest hits of Queen and an album from The Beatles.

Other musical influences include Beach Boys as she rarely listens to other genres of music during her early years.

The pop star's birth name was Katherine Elizabeth Hudson, but she changed her stage name when she was starting out in the pop music scene.

At first, people would call her "Katy Hudson" but she decided not to push through. Instead, she got the "Perry" from her mother's maiden name.

Elsewhere in the interview, Orlando Bloom's fiancé opened up about her being a performer and a full-time mother to her daughter, Daisy Dove Bloom.

She noted that she balances her Las Vegas residency shows and being a mom to her two-year-old child.

"I do it in three-week installments. It allows me the ability to drop my daughter off at pre-school, and then mommy goes to work and comes back home the next day," she explained.

Regarding her "PLAY" residency, Perry said she's avoiding becoming "fat Elvis" in between shows as she gets six to nine weeks of rest.

In an interview with Drew Barrymore, the pop star explained that it's a full circle moment for her to be performing at a residency in Sin City because some of her ascendants also worked in the city's entertainment industry. (via We Got This Covered)

Her aunt was a showgirl in a hotel while her grandmother worked as a seamstress that creates costumes for the performers of the show.

In addition, the exact hotel where her aunt used to perform, The StarDust, was the same location where Resorts Worlds was built.
