Katy Perry is taking on a different genre as she joined country singer Thomas Rhett for his new song "Where We Started," released on Oct. 18.

The lyrics goes "Those days when you're brokenhearted / And you're getting knocked down and you're saying / Don't know how far we're gonna go, just / Look at that road and think about where we started."

"Keep your eyes on me 'cause talk is cheap / We're all we need, yeah / Darling, I know how far we're gonna go just / Look at that road and think about where we started."

The upbeat country song is off Rhett's sixth studio album with the same name, and according to reports, Perry not only hopped on the song as a featured artist but also as a collaborator.

"Working with Katy has been a really collaborative process," the 32-year-old singer said. "From tracking the song in the studio, to performing it on American Idol, to this video-her input has made this whole experience really special for me."

Perry contributed to the "dreamy world" concept of the song and music video. Notably, Perry is known for crafting creative, experimental, and expressive themes and concepts for her music and music videos.

"I loved being able to create a dreamy world for 'Where We Started,' going back to the Nashville singer-songwriter roots of where I started," Perry shared.

'Dream World'

The music video transports the audience to what seems like a "dreamy world," full of drapes. Rhett is situated in a blue room, almost shrouded in darkness save for some lights, while Perry is in a beige room filled with a soft beam.

It also shows Rhett and Perry navigating their way through what looks like a maze of draped sheets, and seeing glimpses of what seems to be their younger versions through a mirror, Rhett in a football jersey, and Perry holding a guitar.

The music video was directed by Patrick Tracy and has garnered over 109,000 views with 19,000 likes and over 2,000 comments.

Fans are ecstatic to see the pair sing together, "Katy and Thomas made a real work of art. Katy singing country is something that I never thought would look so great. Her voice connects too well with the instrumental and she transmits an inner peace when listening to her, and the video is pure art," a fan wrote.

"Obsessed with this song. The duo is so incredibly well together! Katy's voice is so angelic. I've listened to all of her music non-stop going on for 15 years now and never get tired of her voice. It's so peaceful," another commented.
