Selena Gomez took the stage at the American Music Awards in 2019 after not performing for over two years. However, her set was met with criticism as she didn't sound good at the time. Today, the pop star is ready to face the issue in a new documentary.

According to Pop Crave, the singer would be addressing the incident in her upcoming documentary with Apple TV+ titled "My Mind And Me" but what really went down that evening?

Per Seventeen Magazine, the show was Gomez's first time to perform on live television in over two years. At the time, fans anticipated her performance as she got a new tattoo and hairstyle, indicating that she was returning for a new era.

However, when she hit the stage, there was something wrong with her voice as she failed to hit the notes of her songs "Lose You to Love Me" and "Look at Her Now."

Many fans immediately shared their thoughts online, criticizing the singer for what happened.

"I love you girl but what the f*** was that," one wrote.

What Really Happened During the 2019 American Music Awards

In a report published by E! News, an insider revealed that the pop star had "anxiety and panic attack" that evening because she was "putting a lot of pressure on herself."

In addition to her personal issues, there were also technical problems that happened while she was performing her first song.

A fan who claimed to be friends with someone who was a part of the show shared screenshots of their conversation which detailed the problems the pop star met.

Her earpiece was reportedly not working properly and was cutting out until the second song, meaning there were times she couldn't hear herself.

Instead of freaking out and being pissed about what happened, Gomez took it lightly and "said something along the lines of 's*** happens.'"

Now fans will have an in-depth look at what really went down during the AMAs as Gomez is set to address the issue in her upcoming documentary with Apple TV+

According to Collider, the documentary would be tackling the singer's personal life, especially her mental health.

"Selena Gomez: My Mind and Me" will be available for streaming starting on November 4.
