Hip-hop singers and fans have paid tribute to Takeoff, a member of the top-charting group Migos, who was murdered and killed at the age of 28. He joins the legion of rappers shot dead or killed in 2022. While the music industry has condemned each and every killing this year and in the past, Takeoff's horrific killing also roused some confusion. Some said he's too unproblematic of a rapper to be shot to death.

Tuesday, the musician, whose real name was Kirshnik Khari Ball, was slain in Houston. Rick Ross dubbed him a "young legend" while Ja Rule, Kid Cudi, Khalid, and Dave sent their respects on social media. Migos was one of the most important groups of their time, pioneering a style of rapping characterized by choppy, staccato triplets known as the "Migos flow." The group, who disbanded earlier this year, had a number of international singles, including Bad and Boujee, Versace, and Walk It Talk It.

Takeoff and Quavo were apparently playing dice on a balcony outside the 810 Billiards and Bowling Alley when the incident occurred at approximately 02:30 local time (07:30 GMT).

According to the police, there were 40 to 50 people at a private party when someone opened fire. Officers reported finding a huge throng and a man with a head or neck injuries upon their arrival. He was declared deceased at the scene. According to the police, two further victims were transported to the hospital in private automobiles.

Takeoff's attorney Drew Findling told The New York Times that the death of the rapper was "devastating, especially for Atlanta," his hometown.

Mr. Findling observed that the death is too untimely as the world was beginning to learn about Takeoff. For him, ti was the rapper's time to shine.

Social media was awash with tributes, with many expressing disbelief and confusion. Lil Pump commented on Instagram that Takeoff is forever a legend and he can't believe this. Ja Rule posted a dove emoji and conveyed "love to friends and family."

Music executive Cole Bennett tweeted what other fans and artists are feeling over the rising toll of dead rappers this year, claiming that  many things are starting not to make sense.

Takeoff was the least problematic rapper, according to actress Masika Kalysha. He doesn't annoy anyone and should stay out of the way. For him to be a victim of such a hate act is a mystery.
