Madison Beer almost died at 16. The singer underwent depression and contemplated suicide after being dumped by her record company at that young age. The rejection nearly killed her.

The 23-year-old performer rose to prominence in her early teens after Justin Bieber saw her YouTube covers in 2012, prior to signing with Island Records.

A few years later, the singer was dropped by her label, leaving her feeling like a "embarrassing failure" and in "such a sad place" for three years.

Madison Beer revealed on the Reign with Josh Smith podcast that at the time, she contemplated suicide and every little difficulty in her life could prompt her to do so. She was at such a low point in her life that she had lost all hope.

She felt so inadequate and humiliated. She felt like no one liked her. There were so many elements that she just wanted to escape.

At a tender age of 19, everything finally caught up with her and she's seriously considering leaving the world.  From being dropped at age 16 to being signed at age 12 and lamenting the loss of those formative years, along with so many other events that transpired in the background, they all caught up with her.

And that is when she began to feel she doesn't want to live, anymore.

Madison stated she had "so many levels of self-hatred that came out," leaving her feeling "very uncomfortable," while disclosing she is still working through "a substantial bit of PTSD and trauma."

She stated that she came into a decision to do something about her life and not just go through the motions so she can potentially help others, instead of wallowing. She said things changed when she began to be more emphatic of herself.

She used to be quite critical of herself and incredibly cruel. She used to be quite irritated with everyone. She was so distraught for so long that she could not comprehend why she felt she had failed.

The singer recently released "Showed Me (How I Fell in Love With You)," via Epic/Sing It Loud, following its premiere yesterday on BBC Radio 1.

It is the latest single from an untitled new album, following "Reckless" and "Dangerous." Her most recent album release was "Life Support" in 2021. The new song has been released accompanying a music video containing suggestive casino-themed imagery.
