Aaron Carter became a star at the tender age of nine. He seemingly had it all-fame and fortune at such a young age, too. However, beneath it all, he was struggling and had difficulty coping with his own career and success.

The singer tragically passed away in his Los Angeles home on Nov. 5, 2022. He was 34 years old, and apparently was trying to get his life back together.

Several reports note that he was preparing for a major comeback to the music scene, including a tell-all memoir that he was working on for over three years.

It seems like Carter finally returned to the limelight, but not in the way many had hoped.

Where It Began

Carter's career dates back to his childhood when he was still close with his older brother, Nick Carter. Due to their relationship and his talent, he began opening for the Backstreet Boys.

"I wanted to be a singer since I was very, very little," he shared in an interview that dates back to 1998. "The first thing I did is I asked my mom, and she said 'I'll take you to lessons.' So she started taking me to lessons."

He was around 10 years old when he gave that interview, and also added, "I love this job too much, and I'm always going to be doing it, all my life."

True to his words, Carter went on to become a singer. The interview comes a year after the debut of his self-titled album, which sold millions of copies worldwide.

The world fell in love with him, because his sophomore album, "Aaron's Party (Come Get It)," was certified three-time Platinum by the Recording Industry Association of America or RIAA. It sold millions of copies and became his most successful album.

How It Fell Apart

In 2019, Carter opened up about his mental health issues. He had listed several medications for his illnesses, which included multiple personality disorder, schizophrenia, acute anxiety, and manic depression.

"This is my reality," he said, holding up a plastic bag full of prescription bottles.

Aside from his bouts with his mental health, he was also reportedly struggling with substance abuse. Although sources strongly deny he died by his own hand.

The singer was even supposed to spend time with his son, Prince. He reportedly "couldn't wait for the holidays," as he was finally going to spend some time with his ex-fiance Melanie Martin and their son.

In line with family talk, Carter was known to have a tumultuous relationship with his siblings. hough they grew up close, the Carter brothers grew distant. This goes the same for most of his family members. At one point, Nick and their sister Angel had placed restraining orders again him.

However, those are now things of the past, as TMZ reports that while he and his older brother were "on good terms." Although it should be noted that while they were on good terms, they were never able to talk about it, and officially bury the hatchet.

As of this writing, there is no official word on what caused the singer's tragic death.
