The first few months of the year had been all about the Disney hit animated movie musical "Encanto" and its very catchy song "We Don't Talk About Bruno."

Everyone - and we mean everyone, not just kids, is trying not to talk about the Madrigal family's estranged uncle, Bruno Madrigal, in the catchy ensemble song of "Encanto."

The song was met with high critical acclaim from music critics - praising Lin Manuel Miranda's genius lyricism and utilization of the ensemble, perfectly highlighting every character's personality and contribution to the overall plot.

"We Don't Talk About Bruno" cultural success has transcended to its joyous commercial performance - spending weeks at the No. 1 spot of the Billboard Hot 100, United Kingdom, Ireland, among many other countries worldwide. The track was also Disney's longest-running chart leader in Hot 100 history - breaking the record for the most credited artist on a No. 1 Hot 100 song with seven.

Regarded as a pop culture phenomenon by many publications, "We Don't Talk About Bruno" might have been the biggest track that Disney produced in the past decade.

With its mammoth success, Grammy Awards 2023 predictions have listed "Bruno" as one of the frontrunners to receive a Record of the Year or Song of the Year nomination. Even the "Encanto" soundtrack, which also gave birth to Oscar-nominated "Dos Oroguitas," "Surface Pressure," and "The Family Madrigal."

However, to fans' dismay last night, the Grammys didn't want to talk about Bruno as the track, and its album failed to secure a nomination from the Big Three - Record of the Year, Song of the Year, and Album of the Year.

In a Hits Daily Double opinion piece last August 2022, the outlet pointed out that the song and the album were big of a cultural and marketplace phenomenon to be not acknowledged in the main category.

They also argued that Lin Manuel Miranda, the genius behind "Encanto," was "screwed" by the GRAMMY Awards for not recognizing the "Hamilton" soundtrack for Album of the Year.

However, "Encanto" didn't go unnoticed for the 2023 Grammy Awards as it dominated the Song For Visual-Media categories. (via Variety)

"Bruno" was nominated for Best Song for Visual Media but still faced giants like Taylor Swift's "Carolina," Lady Gaga's "Hold My Hand," Beyonce's "Be Alive," and Billie Eilish and Finneas' "Nobody Like U," among many others.

The "Encanto" soundtrack, on the other hand, is also a frontrunner for Best Compilation Soundtrack for Visual Media, while Germaine Franco, the soundtrack composer, was nominated for Best Score Soundtrack for Visual Media.
