In the past few months, Kanye West had been in the headlines for his antisemitism crackdown in the press.

Because of his controversial statements and continuing tirades against brands, people like Elon Musk, Donald Trump, and even his ex-wife Kim Kardashian, people have grown wary about his actions and mental health.

After some of his fans even left him and recants their support for the Taylor Swift hate in a subreddit thread weeks ago, there were still other people in the music community who haven't still left him.

One of these is rapper, Akon.

In an interview with Sky News, the Senegalese-American rapper gave his piece of mind on Kanye's antisemitism remarks.

"I'm a backer of the right to believe what you want to believe," he said in the interview. "Now, the day me and him have a conversation, I will give him my point of view on why I disagree and he may come back and say, 'You know what? You're right.' Or he may say, 'I'm not.'"

Basically, Akon still supports Kanye despite his antisemitic remarks.

"Those comments [by Ye] don't really affect me personally, and I think if everyone takes it that way, then it's different. And if it does affect you personally, then find a way to actually respond in a way that that conversation can be reciprocated," he furthered.

Meanwhile, Akon, when the interview went viral as he was on the receiving end of backlash and scrutiny on social media.

"You missed out the part when you said Kanye's comments don't bother you because they don't affect you. You're normalising antisemitism by calling it a matter of opinion. Saying you love Hitler and denying the Holocaust isn't an opinion. That's hate speech. Why not condemn Kanye?" a user asked.

Instead of recanting his support for Kanye, Akon stood his ground on his support.

"I clearly do not agree with Kanye's remarksI about Hitler. I am simply saying that everyone should have the right to their own opinion. Doesn't mean we will always agree," he tweeted.

Kanye West's consecutive problematic statements during interviews and on social media have brought everyone behind his back, trying to get a hold of him, calling him out of the remarks he had been saying to the press.

The tipping point for many is his antisemitic comments. In a tweet, Kanye wanted to launch "deathcon3" to the Jews in the industry, who he claims to have wronged him and other black artists throughout the years.
