Many fans were excited when "Saturday Night Live" previously announced that The Yeah Yeah Yeahs would be performing on the show as musical guests, but it's not happening anymore as a member is currently suffering from an illness; luckily for viewers, Lizzo is willing to save the day.

Taking to their official Instagram account, the band shared an official statement revealing that guitarist Nick Zinner has been suffering from pneumonia over the past month and it's been "an up and down recovery process."

In the present, they wanted to prioritize the musician's health first, meaning they will not be performing on "SNL" as well as their other gig, KROQ's Acoustic Christmas.

The band went on to express their gratitude for the positive things they experienced this year like being chosen to close out the live variety show's year, but they're also heartbroken as they couldn't "rise to these occassions."

"It's been a tough year on the health front for us alongside so many artists who are committed to connecting with audiences amidst a pandemic," they added.

The Yeah Yeah Yeahs concluded their statement by thanking fans for their support and well wishes before noting that they are looking forward to a "strong return" next year.

Lizzo Replaces The Yeah Yeah Yeahs on 'SNL'

Shortly after the band shared an official statement, "Saturday Night Live" took to their Twitter account to reveal Lizzo would be replacing The Yeah Yeah Yeahs as a musical guest. Austin Butler remains the host of next week's show. (via People Magazine)

This is not the singer's first time on the show as she also took on hosting and performing earlier this year before the release of her album "Special."

During her time on the program, the "Good As Hell" hitmaker said she would break the record for the amount of time "b****" is said on live television.

She also joked about dating "every little white boy in Hollywood" before explaining that she was collecting One Direction members like infinity stones, a reference derived from the character of The Avengers' Thanos.

For her musical performances that evening, Lizzo performed a handful of songs like "About Damn Time" and the title track of her album "Special."

"SNL" will air on Saturday at 11:30 p.m. ET/8:30 p.m. PT on NBC. Fans could stream the episode the following day on Peacock.
