Rage Against the Machine bassist Tim Commerford delivered heartbreaking and worrying news to fans.

Amid the band's reunion tours, Commerford spoke candidly about his recent struggles, including his health battle. In an interview with Spin, the musician assured the fans he has been doing well after starting his treatment for prostate cancer.

According to Commerford, he had his prostate removed two months before Rage Against the Machine's reunion started in July.

Initially, only his bandmates and closest confidants were aware of his diagnosis.

"You can find yourself in a situation like I'm in where it's like, f-, my whole life changed. With everything that happens to me now, I wonder, am I feeling this way because I have cancer? Am I losing my hair because I have cancer? Whatever it is, it makes me wonder if it's happening because I have cancer," he said, as quoted by Billboard.

The 54-year-old bassist added that his health battle has been a tough one because it is connected to his sexuality. Aside from being physically and mentally exhausting, his prostate cancer diagnosis reportedly became a brutal psychological journey.

With that, he admitted to getting emotional most of the time.

Despite the worrying diagnosis, he revealed that his doctor told him he was in the best shape compared to the 50-year-old people he has ever seen. Although Commerford has cancer, he tells everyone he remains tough and healthy.

Since his diagnosis, Commerford reportedly began to see each day positively. But whenever he realizes that he is battling with a dreaded disease, it "puts a dark cloud" on his day.

Fortunately, he finds solace and peace of mind in the music.

All About Tim Commerford's Prostate Cancer Diagnosis

The American Cancer Society explains that prostate cancer starts when the prostate gland's cells start to grow out of control.
