Last month, Jane's Addiction along with their collaborators, Smashing Pumpkins, concluded their tour at the Hollywood Bowl, Los Angeles. Many fans were happy to see the two bands perform, but there was one member missing, Dave Navarro.

More recently, Perry Farrell spoke to Alternative Press to share the pressure and hardships he experienced days before the tour began as the guitarist announced that he couldn't join his bandmates for their scheduled shows.

Initially, the musician felt "a lot of weight" on his shoulders because this is their first show ever after COVID and they don't have their guitarist.

"Jane's is a unique band, and you can't just grab any guitar player and they'll pick it up. That's Dave Navarro we're talking about - those are big shoes to fill," he said regarding his good pal's presence.

They enventually landed on Troy Van Leeuwen of Queens of the Stone Age as Navarro's replacement.

What Happened to Dave Navarro?

The latest interview comes months after the guitarist announced that he will not be a part of Smashing Pumpkins and Jane's Addiction's co-headlining arena tour as he was suffering from lingering symptoms of COVID.

In a statement, as reported by Billboard, Navarro said he was hoping for a full recovery back in October, but, unfortunately, he still feels fatigued.

"I am personally gutted as our original bass player has returned, Eric Avery. We wanted to bring you the original line up but that will have to wait until I am recovered," he wrote.

The musician added that he was battling symptoms of Long COVID since December of last year.

Jane's Addiciton Then Canceled Shows

Even though the band found Navarro's replacement for their tour, there was a point in their North American leg where they had to cancel a few shows.

According to Loudwire, Farrell suffered from an injury at their concert in Madison Square Garden in New York that resulted in him not being able to perform because he felt "pain and discomfort" and have been receiving therapy.

Jane's addiction canceled their scheduled shows in Philadelphia, Pittsburgh, Toronto, Montreal, and Quebec City.

"I am filled with sadness and frustration to have to announce this, but I have to mend in order to continue the tour and get back on stage. Thank you for your understanding," he wrote at the time.
