Drake has many supporters of his music, but sports fans, in general, are not that welcoming to the rapper as many of them believed that he has a "curse." However, the bizarre phenomenon has finally broken after years at the recent FIFA World Cup.

According to Uproxx, many fans became nervous after it was announced that the musician would bet $1 million on Argentina against the country's opponent, France, for the finals.

Although the Latin American country ultimately won the match, Drake lost due to a technicality as he initially bet that Argentina would win before halftime, but Kylian Mbappé of France hit the goal before the penalty shoot out, leading the rapper to lose.

At first, the match ended in a shocking tie of 3-3, but Argentina bounced back in the shootout, winning it 4-2.

Many fans reacted to the broken "Drake curse" on social media, crediting Lionel Messi for breaking the phenomenon.

"Messi beat the Drake curse he really is the greatest of all time," one wrote.

"Messi should be hailed as the undisputed GOAT just for defeating the Drake curse, IMO. Doing things no man has ever done," another one wrote.

"I can't believe against all odds. Messi even managed to break the Drake curse too," one wrote.

As of this writing, Drake has not publicly reacted to the lost bet.

What Is The 'Drake Curse?'

In a previous article published by the outlet in 2019, the "Drake Curse" is a bizarre phenomenon in which the rapper roots or bets for a specific team or athlete in the world of sports then they would end up losing.

The outlet noted that it all began in 2015 when Serena Williams, a renowned name in the world of tennis, was having one of the best times of her year as an athlete.

She ended up winning all four of the Grand Slam tournaments that year, making her the third woman in history to accomplish such a title.

However, before the US Open, rumors began circulating that the tennis superstar was rumored to be dating the musician. By the time she competed against Roberta Vinci, Williams lost the game as Drake watched in the crowd.

Since then, many athletes fell for the so-called "curse" including Andrew Wiggins, Jonny Manziel, The Kentucky Wildcats, Connor McGreggor, The Golden State Warriors, and many more.
