Craig Goldy, the former guitarist of DIO, shared an update about his health battle.

What was supposed to be a happy holiday was also wrapped with heartbreak and sadness as Craig revealed he was diagnosed with an uncurable but non-life-threatening disease.

He detailed his battle on his Facebook page, saying that his condition baffled his doctors and specialists. He added that he underwent a biopsy, and the result led him to a new doctor who might help him fix the four issues he has been facing.

"I've had a bit of a set back health-wise....nothing life threatening but no known cause and no known cure for just 1 of 4 things going on!" he said. "Everything happens for a reason and even bad things come with a benefit! The reason and benefit is much more clear than what's going on ( a story for another time ) that has baffled 6 doctors and specialists...they don't know what it is either."

Goldy's friends and fans immediately left heartfelt messages, wishing him and his family Merry Christmas and fast recovery amid his health battle.

Craig Goldy's Legacy

Goldy has been a guitarist for several bands since he began his career in the 1980s. He started off as a member of Rough Cutt before joining Angel keyboardist Gregg Giuffria's band, Giuffria. He became part of its biggest hit, "Call to the Heart."

He landed on his biggest break yet when he performed on DIO's album, "Dream Evil." However, it did not take him long before he quit the band due to unknown reasons. Though he came back in 2000 to record "Magica," he exited again due to family commitments, giving way to Doug Aldrich.

In 2004, Dio released its final studio album, "Master of the Moon." Goldy, once again, returned during that era but left again for the third time in 2005 following an incident during a Russia tour that caused him to have a hand injury.

Outside his stint as a band guitarist, Goldy famously collaborated with more artists and projects, including Hear 'n' Aid, Ritual, and David Lee Roth, to name a few.

He marked his first solo album, "Insufficient Therapy" with Jeff Pilson in 1993. Two years later, he dropped the follow-up, "Better Late Than Never."

His most recent project before his health diagnosis was launched in August 2018. He and his Dio bandmates, Simon Wright and Rudy Sarzo, released a new collaboration, Dream Child.
