Sam Ryder is the runner-up for this year's Eurovision 2022.

Hailing from Maldon, Essex, England, the 33-year-old singer has given his two cents about the direction he thinks the producers should take in choosing the right bet for the upcoming Eurovision 2023.

Earlier this year, Eurovision 2022 took place in Turin, Italy. This year's competition was a fierce and a rather controversial one. Following the removal of Russia on the list of eligible contestants, some onlookers thought that giving Ukraine the championship trophy was rather a charity move rather than a deserving one.

Ryder, on the other hand, finished strong as the runner up of last year's competition.

Supposedly, the winning country is designated as the host for the proceeding year. But because of the ongoing Russian-Ukraine war, the European Broadcasting Union deemed the country unfit to host the competition.

Because of this, the hosting duties were then transferred to the runner-up, which is the United Kingdom. Next year, Eurovisiom 2023 will be taking place in Liverpool's M&S Bank Arena. (via NME)

In a recent interview, Ryder gave a piece of his mind on what route should the producers should take in choosing an act for United Kingdom for the Eurovision 2023.

For him, diversity is the answer.

"The UK has such a diverse plethora of talent and all I can hope is that what happened this year has encouraged more people from those diverse genres of and backgrounds to think 'Eurovision isn't a career killer'," he told The Sun, as quoted by Music News. "I would love it to be a fan of Eurovision and its history."

Ryder himself, is pretty diverse when it comes to his music. He has influences of Alternative rock, rock, pop rock, a touch of pop and indie pop, and even sounding some Metal core, and glam metal.

The "Space Man" hitmaker is a testament that there are still plenty of talent needed to be discovered. Years before, Ryder was relatively unknown. It was only with the help of TikTok that he gained popularity by singing covers of songs and uploading it online. He even managed to catch the attention of some big stars like Sia, Justin Bieber, Alicia Keys, and even Elton John.

He has released his first studio album, "There's Nothing but Space, Man!" which launched at the UK Albums Charts at No. 1, birthing the song "Space Man," his song to the Eurovision 2022.
