Fall Out Boy hasn't released an album in four years, but it seems like a comeback and a new album is definitely in the works for the rock band, after all the hints they've been dropping.

The four-membered band finally released one of their most speculative hints yet-and it comes in the form of a letter, seemingly addressed to their fans.

The letter is mostly cryptic, but obviously holds a lot of clues about what fans should suspect and expect to see for their next and upcoming eighth studio album.

"The Slow and steady press of thumbs to tiny glass. The phantom light of the year slipping away. The pull of stuck Christmas traffic twisting red and white like candy canes down the 405. (Bi polar vortex and all)," the letter reads.

The next two paragraphs of the letter seem to be some sort of clue, maybe lyrics or it may contain some songs off the tracklist.

However, towards the end, the letter makes more sense, as it explicitly notes that Fall Out Boy has indeed been in the recording studio working on new material.

"We spent the last year jamming ideas in a tiny room [and] can't wait to share them with you," the letter continues.

"Thanks for always sticking around. Thanks for working the beat. Spoiler alert: we got more than a gold watch coming for you next year."

Comeback

According to reports, the mysterious letter comes after several other hints Fall Out Boy has been dropping in recent months, like the recent song preview they released titled "A Claymation Fall Out Boy Celebration."

Many fans speculate that this might not just be some rouse to keep the band relevant, but an actual comeback and album.

After all, 2023 holds quite a significance to Fall Out Boy, as it marks the 20th anniversary of the release of their most popular and debut studio album "Take This to Your Grave," released in 2003.

In fact, it was thanks to their debut studio album that the band rose to prominence. Its influence on the pop-punk music scene in the early 2000s was marvelous.

Fans flocked to Twitter to share their excitement with the band's newest update. "You start to wonder if you have more good road behind you than ahead. Not gatekeeping this feeling, but as a older [Fall Out Boy] fan, this hits different. It's something I've felt over the past couple years but couldn't articulate properly. I'm so excited for this!"

"The most insufferable person you've ever met (me) is becoming more insufferable (fall out boy is releasing new music," added another.
