On January 2, the sports world held its collective breath as Buffalo Bills safety Damar Hamlin was carted off the field and into an ambulance during the team's Monday Night Football game against the Cincinnati Bengals.

A game that was billed as potentially the greatest MNF matchup in history lasted less than 10 minutes before Hamlin collapsed on the field after a blow to the chest caused what the Bills said was cardiac arrest.

The game was suspended and then postponed indefinitely as the nation watched players from both teams huddle in prayer while awaiting word on Hamlin's condition.

The 24-year-old, who joined the Bills in 2021 as a sixth-round draft pick, was given CPR on the field before being transported to a local Cincinnati hospital, where he is listed in critical condition.

Some of those in the music industry was saddened and shocked and took their emotions on the social media.

"Praying for Hamlin. Jesus please let everything be ok," tweeted Ciara. She also added a heart and prayer hands emoji on her post. The singer is married to Denver Broncos QB Russell Wilson.

Wilson himself tweeted, "Wow. I am praying for you @HamlinIsland. Praying for health and safety."

The-Dream also offered his prayers, writing, "Sending Damar @HamlinIsland Our Thoughts & Prayers RN Let's go #3!"

Kirk Franklin, a gospel singer, offered his own prayer:"Lord, please be with Damar Hamlin, his team, and his family... my heart hurts in this moment for him."

On the other hand, Snoop Dogg also showed how hopeful he is for Hamlin's recovery. He shared a photo of a pumped-up Hamlin and placed some telling emojis : a fist bump and a pair of crossed fingers.

Mickey Guyton, MC Hammer, and distraught Bills quarterback, Josh Allen, who wrote "Please pray for our brother," also sent her well wishes. At the time of publication, the NFL had not announced when or if the game will be completed, and Hamlin's treatment or condition had not changed.

Bengals and Bills fans put aside their rivalry, according to the Cincinnati Enquirer, and held prayer vigils for the recovery of the athlete.

Less than twenty-four hours after Hamlin's collapse and hospitalization led to the postponement of a "Monday Night Football" game, his sole public fundraiser has reached $5 million. The initial goal of the GoFundMe, which was established to fund a toy drive in his hometown of McKees Rocks, Pennsylvania, was $2,500.00. More than 176, 000 individuals have donated to the cause.

On Tuesday, a member of Hamlin's camp acknowledged the circumstances and thanked all of the donors for their generosity. According to the update, the additional funds would be used for "Damar's community initiatives and his current fight." Andy Dalton and his wife, Jordan received hundreds of thousands of dollars in donations from Bills fans in 2018 when Andy's Cincinnati Bengals helped Buffalo secure a playoff berth. Other contributors included Tom Brady, who pledged $10,000, and professional wrestler Chris Jericho, who appears to have made two separate contributions of $5,000.
