El DeBarge was arrested in a Burbank gas station over the weekend at 3 a.m. after police found an illegal weapon and narcotics in his car.

According to reports, authorities initially noticed the singer-songwriter's vehicle for a completely different reason-his tags were expired.

However, after further inspection, they found DeBarge with an invalid driver's license, which only prompted authorities to look a little closer at him as well as his vehicle.

It was only then did they notice that he had an expandable metal baton in his vehicle, which is an illegal weapon.

Aside from the illegal weapon, they also uncovered pepper spray and what appeared to be narcotics among his belongings.

Complex reports that DeBarge was hit with possession of a leaded cane or baton, possession of a controlled substance, and possession of drug paraphernalia charges.

Furthermore, reports note that the narcotics found in DeBarge's vehicle is believed to be heroin.

Second Rodeo

According to the Daily Beast, this isn't DeBarge's first run-in with authorities. Apparently, he has previously been arrested for drug offenses and was even sentenced to jail back in 2008.

He was arrested in 2012 again for possession for sale of narcotics and he even went to rehab in an attempt to turn his life around because it was already affecting his music career.

However, it appears that the singer-songwriter still hasn't shaken off his use of drugs; and he was booked in jail but was later released after posting a $25,000 bond.

According to reports, DeBarge is headed back to the courts for these charges, slated to commence in March.

DeBarge is the lead singer of DeBarge, which is a music group formed by the DeBarge family members. They were active from 1979 to 1989, releasing hits like "Rhythm of the Night" and "I Call Your Name."

The group enjoyed success during their active and prime years, but afterwards, some family members had several run-ins with the law as well.

Another report noted that DeBarge's brother, James, even ended up collaborating with another artist who was locked up in the L.A. County Jail.

Chris Brown and James DeBarge worked on a collab song during their incarceration.
