After nearly eight years since the release of her fifth studio album, "Breathe In, Breathe Out," in 2015, Hilary Duff is yet to release any new music. She actually expressed that she wanted to back in 2022, but the world is yet to see her make it happen this year.

Back in January 2022, Duff spoke with Cosmopolitan about her role in the Hulu series "How I Met Your Father" and the possibility of a new album. She admitted that she was not working on music at the moment, but her husband [artist Matthew Koma] and her have been discussing getting into the studio and beginning to flex the muscles.

She also revealed why her desires to return do not translate to doing so, immediately. She said as much as she would love to, she needs first  . to to figure out what she's actually saying, what kind of record she's making, and who it's for.

Regarding her extensive, multi-decade discography, Duff shared a cute story about how much her three-year-old daughter Banks enjoys her 2015 single "Sparks."  She said her kid liked it so much that she would listen to it all the time or request her to play it, which Duff would do even though it's embarassing.
