Pantera's vocalist Phil Anselmo has triggered a mountain of backlash because of an offensive remark that he made seven years ago.

In 2016, Anselmo famously did a Nazi salute while yelling "White Power" at a concert; because of this, the band has been dropped by several German concerts.

The band was yet to make a comeback to touring after two decades of pressing pause on their concert commitments.

According to Consequence, festival organizers pulled the plug on the famous heavy metal band after "intensive conversations" with some of the festivalgoers, co-artists, and even the festival sponsors.

Pantera was already dropped from Rock am Ring and Rock im Park 2023 lineup, as well as Vienna's Gasometer venue.

While the two German festivals have provided the reason why they pulled the plug on the lineup, Vienna has yet to announce theirs.

Meanwhile, Anselmo has already apologized back then and clarified that it was not his intention to do so.

"There was heavy-duty talk between myself and those who love Dime. And heavy emotions were flowing, jokes were made backstage that transpired upon the stage, and it was ugly. It was uncalled for," he said at the time.

However, it seemed like the apology did not matter to German organizers now. Per Blabbermouth, the flak that the band has received mainly came from the German Green Party, who pointed out that it would be "irresponsible" to book the band with Anselmo to perform on Zeppelinfeld, which was a former Nazi party rally ground.

Supposedly, the two German festivals and the Austria gig were one of the band's comeback tours after stepping into the light again last December 2022 with a few gigs in South America.

Aside from the three festivals, it would seem like Pantera will still be booked and busy as they just announced their 2023 headlining tour with Lamb of God, starting from May 2023 in Florida at the Welcome to Rockville Festival and ending on November 2023 at the Ford Field in Detroit, Michigan.

Fans interested in buying Pantera concert tickets can catch the general sale on Jan. 27, 2023, at 10:00 a.m. Citi cardholders can avail of a special presale on Jan. 24, 2023, at 10:00 a.m., ending on Jan. 26, 2023, at the same time.
