Jane's Addiction named a musician who would replace Dave Navarro on its upcoming tour amid the guitarist's health battle.

Navarro's long battle with COVID-19 has been keeping him away from the stage, leading his band to find a replacement who could play with them while waiting for his return. Unfortunately, fans need to wait a little longer as the band confirmed he would still not be joining the band on the first few dates of its 2023 tour.

In a Twitter post on Friday, Jane's Addiction announced that former Red Hot Chili Peppers member Josh Klinghoffer would fill in for Navarro on the band's following shows.

"As a band we are in a great place, writing new music, and the bond is tighter than ever," the band said. "We all hope Dave can be out playing with us; when he feels healthy and ready."

Jane's Addiction said Klinghoffer would join the members in the shows on the West Coast, South America, and some of its international shows.

Before making the massive decision, Farrell said the band never played a show without Navarro since its debut in 1985. He disclosed that they planned the tour even when the guitarist was sick, but they never knew he would take so long to recuperate from the dreaded virus.

Although they wanted to wait for him, Farrell added he needed to consider everyone on the team who has families to feed.

Previously, longtime Queens of the Stone Age guitarist Troy Van Leeuwen and Daniel Ash replaced Navarro in other Jane's Addiction shows.

What Is Dave Navarro Currently Up to?

Navarro has not been playing with Jane's Addiction for over a year. However, his absence from the band allowed him to take on different solo endeavors.

He worked hard to improve his mental health through an art collaboration with LA artist PADHiA. Under the name Duel Diagnosis, Navarro and the artist created fine art, street art, and prints across the country.

"I think in a lot of ways PADHiA [who is a PTSD survivor] and I working together as Duel Diagnosis is part of our recovery process," he told Variety. "I can't tell you how many times we've said to each other, 'Man, if it wasn't for you, I don't know if I would be breathing.' We've had some dark times recently."

Navarro's break, however, led him to miss Jane's Addiction performance at the Lollapalooza festival. He also did not make it to the band's shows with the Smashing Pumpkins.
