After Selena Gomez's recent appearances over the past few months like the Golden Globes and a basketball game, social media users quickly pointed out her weight gain. More recently, the actress finally spoke out and slam the haters with their negative comments.

According to Billboard, the Rare Beauty founder took to her TikTok live stream to address the criticisms she's been receiving while reminding fans to be contented with their bodies.

Addressing why she gained weight over the past few months, the former Disney actress explained her current medication causes her to hold on to water weight and it's a very normal thing to happen.

The reason why she's under medication is because of her lupus and kidney transplant.

In addition, she noted that when she's not taking any meds, the singer "tend to kind of lose weight."

Elsewhere in her live stream, the "Ice Cream" songstress shared some words of wisdom to her followers, telling them that they're beautiful in their unique way.

"We have days where maybe we feel like s-t but I would much rather be healthy and take care of myself and my medications are important and I believe they are what helps me," she added.

Selena Gomez Updates

The recent TikTok live comes after the musician spoke to Vanity Fair to express her true feelings before she left social media years ago.

Selena Gomez made her comeback on Instagram last month and many fans wonder why she never posted anything on the platform for years.

Explaining the background behind her decision, the singer said she never got the chance to go to high school because of her work as an actress when she was a kid. Later on, she treated the world as if it was her high school.

However, negative comments started coming out amid her breakup with Justin Bieber, saying there were a lot of opinions about her and someone else, seemingly comparing them, and even though there were positive ones, her mind tends to go straight to negative criticisms.

"I didn't want to see any of the [feedback]-not necessarily about the relationship, but the opinions of me versus [someone] else. There'd be thousands of really nice comments, but my mind goes straight to the mean one," the "Princess Protection Program" actress said. (via Elle Magazine)
