The Spice Girls reunion has got to be one of the most-anticipated comebacks that 90s fans have been expecting for decades now.

The all-girl group was reported to be one of the many performers at King Charles III's coronation this coming May 2023.

Earlier this January 2023, Express UK said that the Spice Girls reunion performance would take place on the King's coronation as the team behind the royal event was in serious talks with the girl group.

Spice Girls on King Charles III Coronation

Spice Girls and King Charles has had a longstanding friendship with one another. In 1997, the Spice Girls, composed of Geri Halliwell, Emma Bunton, Melanie Brown, Victoria Adams, and Melanie Chisholm, graced the 21st anniversary of Charles' Trust Charity at the Manchester Opera House back then.

In one of their meet and greets, Mel B, Scary Spice, planted a kiss, which is now an infamous moment, on then-Prince Charles' cheeks. Ginger Spice, Halliwell, gave a much more evident kiss mark on the Prince's cheek and a pat on his butt.

The group then had a very close photograph with the royal, sending monarch onlookers into a rage because of the breach of protocol.

Since then, the group and Charles have met on different occasions separately.

When the band disbanded, many of their fans have been raving for a reunion tour, but Victoria Beckham, Posh Spice, was actually deemed difficult to get on board because of her commitments.

Spice Girls Reunion Update

However, in an interview from The Sun, the group's de facto leader Mel B, Scary Spice, who has been on the lead for the talks on King Charles' Spice Girls Reunion performance, revealed that they are still holding "crunch talks" ahead of the coronation.

The girl band is said to be still "thrashing out a plan" for the upcoming reunion.

"We're still chatting, it's just about finding a middle ground for everybody. Will Victoria join? I'm an optimist so I'll say yes!" Mel B told the outlet.

Mel B also alluded to the fact that the group, now that they're older, have been patient during these talks as they try to give each other more space.

"In the '90s, we would go 24/7. We were young, we were ambitious, we were under a lot of pressure, we were knackered, and there were flare-ups. All bands have similar stories, but as time has gone on, we just have that real respect and appreciation for each other," she furthered.

As to when the final confirmation for a Spice Girls reunion performance has not yet been revealed, it is expected that the matter would be ironed out months or weeks before King Charles III's coronation.
