Kate Hudson revealed why she did not pursue her music career despite her strong desire to become a singer.

The 43-year-old actress started her career in 1996 and has since become part of renowned films and series that scored her different accolades. She also expanded her empire by entering the business and becoming an author.

Among the things she wants to do, her plans to become a singer were held back for a long time before she was able to finally pursue it.

Ahead of the release of her debut album, Hudson shared details of her journey during her appearance on the podcast "Table for Two with Bruce Bozzi" Tuesday.

The Golden Globe-winning actress revealed that she did not pursue her music career despite wanting to because of her relationship with her biological father, singer Bill Hudson. According to Hudson, she wanted to be a singer but "Almost Famous" happened.

She played the role of Penny Lane in the Oscar-nominated flick.

"But later on I kind of rejected it because I was like, 'You know what?' As you do when you're dealing with daddy issues. I don't want to connect to that part because that's my dad. That's all dad," she said. "If I put that out in the world and people didn't like it, it would destroy me."

Although she missed her chance to start her music career early, the delay made Hudson one of the most sought-after stars in Hollywood. The time also helped her change her perspective on making music and even led her to reconcile with her father.

She also described Kurt Russell as an "incredible patriarch" as he dedicated his life to raising her and her sibling.
