Selena Gomez did that.

Back in 2018, the "Lose You to Love Me" singer was going through arguably the roughest patch of her life-but years later, she's over it, and in fact, she's flourishing.

That doesn't mean that she no longer bears the scars of Justin Bieber's deep betrayal or the knives on her back from all the criticisms and hate she received from the Internet.

"Does anybody just feel really bad for Selena Gomez? Like can you imagine going through a breakup so publicly with a guy who you were in love with for seven years and then like two months later he just marries someone," a TikTok user said.

"And then you have a chronic illness or an autoimmune disease - I can't imagine that it's fun. Living with that and the flareups in the public eye while people are watching you," continued the user, referring to Gomez' Lupus.

"And then dealing with mental health when life is hard enough already. Kudos to her for being so brave and so public and so open about her journey.

"But I bet if we ever walked a day in her shoes - where everything is so publicized - that would be so hard. So whenever I think about a hard day, I think about Selena Gomez. I feel bad saying that but if she can do it then everybody can."

The 30-year-old star was clearly moved by the fan's support and opinions because she replied, "that made me cry. Thank you!"

Selena Gomez: a Fighter

Previously, the "People You Know" singer addressed her break up with Bieber: "I went through a hard time in a breakup, and I didn't want to see any of the [feedback]-not necessarily about the relationship, but the opinions of me versus [someone] else,

"There'd be thousands of really nice comments, but my mind goes straight to the mean one."

Gomez has also been very candid about her struggles with mental health, which is probably why she tends to get fixated on the negative comments directed at her.

More recent reports note that after being named the most followed personality on Instagram, Gomez took time off from social media after being subjected to some shady posts by Kylie Jenner, Kendall Jenner, and Hailey Bieber.
