Fans have been missing One Direction since they disbanded in 2016, but it appears that there's still a possibility for them to reunite in the future. More recently, Louis Tomlinson opened up about how the breakup impacted him and shared when the group will return.

Speaking to The Times, the solo musician, who recently had a top 10 album, said the band's disbandment had a negative impact on him, saying he was "mortified" and "absolutely gutted."

"I was a bit bitter, I suppose because it just felt like another loss to me," he added.

Regarding where we stand with the group today, Tomlinson said he understood things in the present and "there's not as much anger."

Since supporters, popularly known as Directioners, have been hoping for the group to reunite in one stage together or in an album, the singer said it's possible but not in the near future and he's up for a comeback.

"I'd be surprised if we lived out our lives and didn't have a moment where we had a reunion, or whatever you want to call it. I'd be up for that," he said. (via Billboard)

Even though Tomlinson admitted he misses his bandmates—Harry Styles, Niall Horan, Zayn Malik, and Liam Payne—he's happy where he is at the moment, making music on his own.

Speaking about the major success of Harry Styles after leaving One Direction, the musician noted he wasn't surprised when his good pal amassed the popularity he has today, saying all of them always knew that the "Daylight" hitmaker would "fit that mold" and it's amazing for him to witness it.

Although he's happy for Styles' success, the musician said he was envy at first because he was still trying to find his feet, but added that it's "never healthy to cross-reference your own success with others, is it?"

The recent interview comes after Niall Horan speaking about the band in an interview with Kelly Clarkson, revealing that he's grateful for remaining in contact with his former bandmates, saying they "speak constantly" and it's a "good little thing to have."

In other updates, Louis Tomlinson released his second solo album "Faith in the Future" in November 2022, he also embarked on a world tour over the past few months.
