What was supposed to be a celebratory night for French Montana became a nightmare that ended up with 10 people injured.

Earlier this year, the Bronx-based rapper was celebrating the release of his mixtape in Miami, Florida when an assailant entered the restaurant and shot at them.

Aside from celebrating, French Montana was also filming a music video for his collab song with Rob49 titled "Igloo" just outside, in their car.

One of the people involved in the making of the music video, Carl Leon, was among the injured individuals that night.

Negligence

According to Rolling Stone, he is now suing the rapper for $50,000 for damages, noting that the incident was "preventable."

His legal team cited that French Montana and his label did not properly plan for the music video, like acquiring the correct permits as well as hiring a security team.

The complaint also states that the permit "would have ensured that proper police presence and security would be present on the Subject Property in order to prevent or otherwise deter violence and/or other types of criminal activity."

According to reports, Police Chief Delma Noel-Pratt also echoed the sentiments of Leon's legal team.

Mixed Statements

French Montana, on the other hand, claims that he bears no responsibility over Leon, claiming that he did not even invite the extra to the celebration.

His lawyer insists that Leon taking legal action against the rapper are "egregious profit play and publicity stunt."

Beyond rejecting Mr. Leon and his counsel's claims, we implore them to take a good, long look in the mirror and ask whether their loved ones would respect them for trying to make a buck by blatantly lying," Ted Antastasiou, French Montana's lawyer, added.

Furthermore, the rapper's collaborator, Rob49, claims that they were not filming a music video at the location where they were attacked at all.

"We were just chilling and we just wanted to perform the song and shit and celebrate because it was dropping that night," he said.

"So we just went to turn up with him. I saw [reports] that it was a music video and I was like alright I'm not even about to clear that up."

Rob49 was among the people who sustained gunshot injuries that night, and he even drove himself to the hospital.

"Listen, man, I done been through a lot," he continued. "That's not half of the shit I done been through. That's some shit we went through at home like 100 times. The world just got a chance to see it because I got a platform but it ain't nothing like that to me."
