Eddie Vedder had an "unlikely job" before starting his career as lead vocalist and guitarist of Pear Jam.

In 1990, Pearl Jam started dominating the alternative rock genre as its founding members dropped albums after albums. Vedder, Jeff Ament, Stone Gossard, and Mike McCready immediately made it to several charts with the band's debut album, "Ten."

Pearl Jam's decades of career he led to the band's induction into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2017. But before Vedder helped the band's career to skyrocket, he first took an odd job and endured a rough upbringing.

Eddie Vedder's Previous Jobs Before Becoming Pearl Jam Member Revealed

Vedder always thought that he was together with his father and mother. Little did he knew, the man who he thought was his father was actually his stepdad as his birth father had already passed away.

From San Francisco, he moved to California where he started making bucks as security.

In an interview (via Ultimate Guitar), Vedder called the moment "draining" as the work exhausted him.

"I remember working late-shift security and getting home, kind of torched at nine in the morning after traffic, and playing because I wanted to play something, but I was too brain-dead to do anything complicated," he recalled.

Eddie Vedder Tried Luck in Music Industry

Vedder would then de-stress by going on camping trips with Red Hot Chili Peppers drummer Jack Irons. During those outings, he showed his daring leaps from trees, causing him to earn the nickname "Crazy Eddie."

The rocker soon found his way to the music industry when he saw a tape from Stone Gossard looking for a singer. He came to Seattle and ultimately became one of the founding members of Pearl Jam.

Although he no longer had more time to make his camping trips, he took "Crazy Eddie" onstage and constantly hung himself above the stage.

Vedder shared more about his past job in the song "Rearviewmirror." Per the singer, realizing he went from being a security guard to being in a band became his mantra. He then used the song to cope with his problems and made it his meditation.

Even his bandmate, Gossard, knew where the lyrics were coming from for Vedder's part.

Although Pearl Jam has a lot of hit songs, the band knew how "Rearviewmirror" take a huge part in the vocalist's heart.
