Making music for public consumption is a challenging and daunting task at best. There is plenty to overcome, even for the most confident and supported artist. But suppose you find that you are shy and that those around you doubt that you have what it takes to enter the world of music. In that case, the ordinarily difficult uphill struggles can seem insurmountable, so much so that many potential music makers would decide that the industry is not for them.

It is the situation that Benjamin Lewis found himself in, but unlike many who have stood in his shoes, he carried on regardless. Waiting For A Sign is not only an excellent debut track but a vindication of his faith in his own ability.

As the accompanying video makes clear, fear can feel like being cocooned mummylike in constricting layers, layers of doubt and prejudice, perhaps even envy too. And it is through the support and belief of those around you, not to mention your self-belief and determination, that you can free yourself.

Now free and having made his point with the release of his first EP, Waiting For A Sign is a line in the sand which says that Benjamin Lewis has arrived despite the doubts of himself and others. It is a first, killer blow to critics, a calling card, and a mission statement all rolled into one.
